The Alkartasuna agricultural cooperative is a body with over 100 years of history behind it and a valuable example of organisation and heritage in the town of Usurbil. It’s a structure that has managed to keep going and update itself until the present day and that, in its sphere, has become a landmark in the Basque Country and even beyond. It’s an institution that stands for Usurbil and its identity. Its function and what it offers are an essential foundation for farmers and all those working the land, gardens and orchards in the locality and its surrounding area, as well as for the population in general: as a provider of training and services, a supplier, a meeting place… The Alkartasuna cooperative has a programme of its own. For example, its cider training centre is one a small number of its kind and a landmark in the world of cider making.
