USURBIL AND THE BASQUE LANGUAGE
Euskal Herria, the Basque name for this country, means the home of the Basque language. We’re said to be the only people in the world whose language gives its name to the country. And in the home of Basque Usurbil can be said to hold a special place because of its history, cultural activities and notable figures. This is why our town is of particular interest to people interested in our language and in languages in general. On the one hand, in our streets, bars and shops you can listen to and use Basque, as the proportion of Basque speakers in Usurbil is over 70%. On the other, our town has a packed cultural agenda in Basque: take a look and choose the event you like most. Come to Usurbil and live, practise, hear and enjoy our language.
